DR. WALT BROCK
Walt Brock is the co-founder of Ironwood, a Christian camp in Newberry Springs, California. He and his wife, Betty, have been in full-time ministry for over forty-five years, and their burden to reach young people and to strengthen families and churches has produced a life ministry as family and leadership seminar speakers, Christian education advocates, camp workers, Sunday school teachers, and counselors to teens and parents. Walt and Betty have four married children who serve with their spouses in both church and camp ministry.
DEBI PRYDE
Debi and her late husband, Tom, served in local church ministries for over forty years. Debi has extensive experience with women’s ministries, including seminar speaker, college-level teacher, ladies’ ministry director, Sunday school class teacher, counseling trainer, and women’s Bible study leader. Debi is a certified biblical counselor through the Institute of Biblical Counseling in San Diego, California, and the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.
Debi resides in southern California and has two married children actively involved in local church ministries.
SHANNON STEUERWALD
Shannon has been involved in children’s ministries since 1991. She has served as a children’s church leader, camp worker, mentor, counselor, author, and Christian school teacher and administrator. Shannon currently serves as the principal for Ironwood Christian Academy and stays active as the ladies ministry coordinator in her local church. Shannon and her husband, Steve, have three children and are on staff at Ironwood in Newberry Springs, California.
THE IRONWOOD TEAM
Anybody who has spent time at a camp quickly realizes that the facility is not what makes the camp. The people who serve in front and behind the scenes are a vital part of the camping experiences. Over the years, God has blessed Ironwood with a staff team that is willing to serve and sacrifice, learn and teach, challenge and mentor those around them. We are thankful for the staff that God has given us, but we are awed by the opportunity of being co-laborers with God. The privilege we have to see God work makes the responsibility of service worthwhile. Our hope is that Psalm 51:17 would describe the Ironwood team: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.“
